With straight branches, thick, leafy tree tops and strong roots, Istrian bjelica stand out on the Istrian landscape. The strong character of these trees is emphasized by the flavor of the oil that they produce - bitter, pungent and spicy, like absinthe. These trees and this oil reminds us of our ancestors' pride and all their hard work that has allowed us to make olive oil here for generations.
More than a hundred years ago our forefathers planted the first olive trees on the rocky and barren Istrian land. Dolija, as a brand, started in 2008 as a result of a long family tradition and love for cultivating olives.
