Located in Navarre, in northern Spain, the company earned its fourth award at the world's largest olive oil quality contest for its Artajo 10 Coupage, a medium-intensity blend.
"This award is a very prestigious recognition, and values the effort of many years in search of excellence," co-owner Andrea Urzaiz said.
In the 2022/23 crop year, Aciete Artajo produced 150,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil from its machine-harvested Arbequina, Hojiblanca, Manzanilla and Cacerena groves.
"Our priority is to maintain the highest quality," Uraiz said. "When starting from own production, the balance is key. To achieve this, there is a great deal of pruning and irrigation optimization work."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
