5 years agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer Santacatrini has won a Silver Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

Winning at NYIOOC for three consecutive years tell us that we have a consistently high standard of quality and we are very proud and happy about that.

Giovanni Bonfiglio, owner

The Sicilian producer picked up the award for its Arita brand, an organic medium blend. In both the 2018 and 2019 editions of the competition, Arita was awarded Gold.

"Winning at NYIOOC for three consecutive years tell us that we have a consistently high standard of quality and we are very proud and happy about that," owner Giovanni Bonfiglio said.

The company produces organic extra virgin olive oil from Biancolilla and Nocellara Etnea olives using traditional methods.

The 2019/20 season was marked by significant challenges, but Bonfiglio pointed out that every season is for an olive grower.

"Every year is hard, but passion and love for our job give us the energy to face every challenge," he said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
