Enotre di Pietro Pollizzi Strikes Gold at 2020 NYIOOC

5 years agoBy OOT Staff

Enotre di Pietro Pollizzi has won a Gold Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

The company produced 4,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil in Calabria, Italy, using traditional methods.

The 2019/20 season was marked by significant challenges, the company's owner said after receiving news of the award.

This year has been very hard due to the drought, but thanks to the irrigation system, we have dealt with this problem quite well. Making quality means keeping all the factors that contribute to a good harvest under control and following good agronomic practices.

Enotre di Pietro Pollizzi won Gold for its Olio Enotre, an organic medium blend of Carolea and Nocellara olives.

Pollizzi said that bringing home a Gold Award has inspired him to continue following sustainable practices to produce his olive oil.

"Winning at a competition like the one in New York gives me the strength not to give up and to continue," he said.
