Turkish Company Genius Awarded in Competition

Turkish company Genius took a Gold Award at the globe's most prestigious olive oil contest.

The company farms its organic olive trees, including Arbequina, Ayvalik, Trilye and Memecik varieties.

The company won for its Genius Olive Oil, a medium Arbequina, at NYIOOC World.

CEO Birsen Pehlivan remarked that the win came despite significant struggles during the season.

"İt was a very bad season for our country," Pehlivan said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
