The company earned the Gold for its Fortica Coratina Moraiolo, a medium-intensity blend, and the Silver Award for its Fortica Moraiolo, a medium monovarietal.

"I'm happy to have confirmed the quality of my olive oils once again," owner Ivica Vlatkovic said.

In the 2019/20 crop year, Vlatkovic produced 735 liters of extra virgin olive oil.

The awards caps off what had already been a very productive year for Vlatkovic and his team. The producer credited his win to the fortuitous location of his grove and new investments in it.

"My olive farm is situated in a terrific location that gives my trees all the benefits while protecting them from harm," he said. "The sprinkler system that I've installed through the tree tops is a huge benefit to the yield."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
