4 years agoBy OOT Staff

Croatian producer Magran has won a Gold Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its Bodis brand, an organic medium blend.

We are very happy because such a big name in the olive oil quality world has acknowledged our product. It is also a confirmation for us that we are doing good work.

Nikola Bodis, owner

In the 2019/20 season, the company produced 1,500 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil from Leccino and Pendolino olives using traditional methods.

"We are very happy because such a big name in the olive oil quality world has acknowledged our product," owner Nikola Bodis said. "It is also a confirmation for us that we are doing good work."

In spite of their success, Bodis said the climate proved to be a major challenge for his team this year.

"The cold and wet blooming season caused a reduction in our production," he said. "We also had a very dry period in the late summer and autumn."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
