Arbor Sacris Wins Gold at 2020 NYIOOC
Overcoming harvesting hurdles to take home their first win, traditional Spanish producer Mil & Un Verd, S.K. grabbed a Gold Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

The oil that caught the judges’ eyes at the world’s most prestigious olive oil quality contest was the company’s Arbor Sacris, a medium Farga produced in Catalonia, Spain.
Marta Rius Llop, the company’s Eng Tech Agronomic, said on hearing of the award that it’s always a challenge to harvest fruit from the company’s 35 large Farga trees.
“On the one hand, those splendid millennial olive trees´ large size hinders the manual harvest. On the other hand, it was difficult to find harvesters, due to the rural exodus,” she said.
Llop said the company was very proud of its achievement.
“We feel accomplished knowing that a group of famous professional judges considers Arbor Sacris above standard quality. As a matter of fact, this award not only creates value for our product and company, but also raises awareness for the endangered millennial olive trees that we are trying to protect,” she said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
