Organic Frantoio Yields 9th NYIOOC Win for Pruneti

8 months agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer Frantoio Pruneti has won a Gold Award at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

Knowing that our commitment is appreciated internationally is an important recognition of all our passion, care and sacrifice we dedicate every day as olive producers.

Based in Tuscany, the company earned its ninth straight World Competition accolade for an organic medium-intensity Frantoio.

"We have been winning the NYIOOC Gold Award for many years, and it confirms that our excellence is always rewarded," said owner Paolo Pruneti.

"Knowing that our commitment is appreciated internationally is an important recognition of all our passion, care and sacrifice we dedicate every day as olive producers, and it is a great achievement for all those who work in our company," he added.

This year's award is especially gratifying after producers in Tuscany faced a challenging harvest. While olive oil production rebounded in Italy, farmers and millers in central and northern Italy largely experienced a lower harvest.

"There has been a lot of uncertainty in the months preceding the harvest," Pruneti said. "The weather has not at all been helpful, so much so that until the week before we started, it was very complicated to make predictions about this year’s harvest."

"After the first tests, we could ascertain the outstanding characteristics of our oils and confirm their excellence," he added.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's preeminent olive oil quality contest. Its annual list of award winners is the authoritative guide to the world's best olive oils and the dedicated producers who craft them.
