We are convinced this award will be a step further to accomplishing our goals. It is definitely a self-confidence boost to keep pushing and delivering more quality products in upcoming years.

The Croatian producer picked up a Gold Award for its organic medium blend and a Silver Award for its organic delicate blend, both of which are sold under the Sv. Ivan brand.
"Everyone on our team feels extremely proud and delighted, especially because this was our first year participating in the NYIOOC," owner Tomislav Duvnjak said. "We are convinced this award will be a step further to accomplishing our goals. It is definitely a self-confidence boost to keep pushing and delivering more quality products in upcoming years."
In the 2019/20 season, the company produced 2,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil from Oblica, Frantoio, Leccino and Levantinka olives using traditional methods.
In spite of their first successful season at the World Olive Oil Competition, Duvnjak said the hot start to the year provided plenty of challenges to overcome.
"2019 has been very specific," he said. "During the flowering phase in spring, unexpected heat wilted most of the flowers. Thus, in the harvest season we had significantly less fruit than anticipated."
"However, a reduction in the amount of fruit resulted in a particularly high quality of the oil," he added. "Less fruit led to a better output, of which this award is proof."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
