The Tuscan producer earned its fourth-straight award at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest for a medium-intensity blend of Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo olives.
"Winning at the NYIOOC again is a continuous reaffirmation of our hard work and goal of producing one of the top olive oils in the world," owner Francesco Piattelli Palmarini said.
Like many producers in Tuscany, Piattelli Palmarini said adverse weather conditions were the main challenge he faced in producing award-winning extra virgin olive oil.
"Two weeks of rain happened during the flowering season, which heavily limited the pollination process and reduced production yields by more than 60 percent," he confirmed.
