Alanterres SLU Continues Streak With Gold Award

5 years agoBy Olive Oil Times

Alanterres SLU's Montsagre Picual has won an NYIOOC World award for the fourth year in a row.

This year, the olives used to make the organic medium Picual overcame climate challenges in Spain to take home yet another Gold Award in the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

We are honored by the reiterated recognition to Montsagre's oil quality at the NYIOOC. It is certainly a significant incentive for our team to keep working on achieving high standards year after year.

Alberto Barrobes, Owner, Alanterres SLU

"In 2019, the weather kept challenging our region with scarce rain and unseasonal temperatures. The abnormally high temperatures accelerated the olives maturing. A close follow up of the fruit ripeness was critical to harvest at the right point. Even [though] this harvest volume was below our average production, we are proud of the quality achieved," said company owner Alberto Barrobes.

Barrobes said the repeated wins at NYIOOC spurred the company to continue producing the highest quality product each season.

"We are honored by the reiterated recognition to Montsagre's oil quality at the NYIOOC. It is certainly a significant incentive for our team to keep working on achieving high standards year after year," Barrobes said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
