Anteata Frantoio Wins Big at 2020 NYIOOC

5 years agoBy OOT Staff

The Tuscan producer Anteata Frantoio was awarded two Golds at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

The NYIOOC is our number one goal in terms of international competitions. We are very glad and proud to have been awarded again, also knowing that our clients really like to see this kind of high recognition on our bottles.

Daniele Lepori, owner

Using exclusively traditional methods, the Italian producer impressed the judges with two different medium blends: Da Noi a Voi and Piro.

"The NYIOOC is our number one goal in terms of international competitions," owner Daniele Lepori said. "We are very glad and proud to have been awarded again, also knowing that our clients really like to see this kind of high recognition on our bottles."

What makes the victory even sweeter for Lepori is knowing that it comes in spite of the significant obstacles faced by the producer in the 2019/20 season.

"It was a very dry and warm year," he said. "The olives came earlier and ripened faster, so our window for production was smaller – only four weeks."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
