Finca La Gramanosa Beats the Drought to Reach World Stage

8 months agoBy OOT Staff

Dashang Investment Trading España has won two awards at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

The investment firm earned a Gold and Silver Award for its Finca La Gramanosa brand: a medium-intensity Arbequina and medium Picual.

David Ribas, the company's marketing manager, said the company was thrilled to win again at the World Competition. In 2023, the Catalonia-based Finca La Gramanosa earned a Silver Award for its Picual monovarietal.

In the 2023/24 crop year, Finca La Gramanosa produced 100,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil. Ribas added that this year's awards are especially gratifying after Catalonia's devastating drought made the harvest especially challenging. "There was too much sun and too little rain," he said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's preeminent olive oil quality contest. Its annual list of award winners is the authoritative guide to the world's best olive oils and the dedicated producers who craft them.
