Acendra Wins Gold Award in New York

a year agoBy OOT Staff

Brazilian producer DDD Industria de Alimentos has won a Gold Award at the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

It's an honor to receive this Gold Award. This medal makes us feel that all the work and effort were worthwhile.

The company earned its debut award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its Acendra brand, a medium blend.

"It's an honor to receive this Gold Award," owner Douglas De Conti said. "This medal makes us feel that all the work and effort were worthwhile."

Situated in the sprawling southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, Acendra produced 1,300 liters of extra virgin olive oil from Koroneiki, Picual and Arbequina olives in the 2022/23 crop year.

De Conti said this year's harvest was lower than the previous one due to many trees entering the 'off-year' in the natural alternate bearing cycle of the olive tree. "No doubt, our challenge is to keep quality constant in our harvest," he added.

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
