This year, the company received Gold Awards for its medium Durant Olive Mill Frantoio and its delicate Durant Olive Mill Estate Blend. Silver Awards went to the medium Durant Olive Mill Mission and Durant Olive Mill Tuscan, a medium blend.
The producer grappled with early freezing conditions that killed nearly one-third of the crop, co-owner Paul Durant said upon receiving news of the award.
"We faced freezing conditions from late October into November. It forced us to pick early and about 30 percent of the crop was lost," Durant said.
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Oregon from 12,000 Frantoio and Mission olives, using machine methods. This year's wins brought the company's award total to 12.
"It is always exciting and gratifying to have your hard work and passion recognized at an international level," Durant said.
