Lagar H Wins Two Gold Awards in World Competition

For the third consecutive year, Lagar H has won two awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

We are very proud and honored to win this award for the third year in a row. It means that not only are we taking action towards the U.N.'s Sustainable Development Goals but also producing top quality by doing so.

Situated in the heart of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil, the company earned a pair of Gold Awards for a medium-intensity blend and medium Koroneiki monovarietal.

Lagar H previously earned Gold Awards for both brands in 2022. Meanwhile, the company's blend earned Gold, while the Koroneiki received a Silver Award in 2021.

In the 2022/23 crop year, Lagar H produced 25,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil from its 28,000 trees using traditional methods.

"This year was especially challenging due to the drought in the region, as well as in many producing regions," Haas said. "That's why we believe in a low-carbon economy, and today we are one of the first certified carbon-negative olive oil companies in the world."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
