Masmana Awarded at World Competition for Organic Kilis
Masmana from Turkey has won a Gold Award at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
This season, the long summer period, extremely high temperatures, high interest rates and strong inflation have closely affected the olive oil sector.

Situated in Turkey's southeastern corner, the producer earned its award at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its Masmana Polyphenol Rich brand, an organic medium Kilis.
Co-owner Ali Hayta said it was a "really wonderful" feeling to win a World Competition award once again. Masmana previously earned a pair of Silver Awards at the 2022 NYIOOC.
In the 2023/24 crop year, the company produced 20,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
"This season, the long summer period, extremely high temperatures, high interest rates and strong inflation have significantly affected the olive oil sector," Hayta said. "The scorching heat experienced for two consecutive years limited the olive harvest and we felt the resulting decrease in productivity."
