Heat Wave Doesn’t Stop Oli Migjorn at 2020 NYIOOC
Spanish producer Oli Migjorn took a Gold and a Silver Award at NYIOOC World, the globe's most highly regarded olive oil quality contest.
We are very happy! For us it's an award for the good work and an award that will help us distinguish our products from other producers.
Aïna Llaudó said about the award
The company produces organic extra virgin olive oil in Catalonia from its 20,000 Arbequina and Corbella olive trees using traditional methods.
Scorching temperatures were a setback in the 2019/2020 season, company Marketing Manager Aïna Llaudó said after receiving news of the award.
"The heat wave in late June burned many flowers, so fewer olives were born and production was affected. Despite this, the quality was excellent,"" Llaudó remarked.
The winning oils were Migjorn Arbequina, an organic medium Arbequina, and Migjorn Corbella.
"We are very happy! For us it's an award for the good work and an award that will help us distinguish our products from other producers," Llaudó said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
