OPG Brečević Andrea Wins Gold
Croation producer OPG Brečević Andrea took a Gold Award in its first year competing at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
This was the first year for us at NYIOOC, and the feeling is really fantastic and satisfying because all our efforts and work have paid off. We are young producers, and we really want to maintain the tradition but with a different modern view, new technologies and knowledge. This award is just another confirmation that we are on the right track.

The win was the perfect culmination of a great 2019/2020 season that was not without challenges, company owner Andrea Brečević said after receiving news of the award.
"The 2019 harvest was great for us, although the maturation of the olives was uneven, and it was really challenging to determine the optimal timing for the harvest. We certainly tried to achieve the best from such a specific year as 2019 was," Brečević said.
The winning oil was the medium Rheos Premium Blend. The company produced 1,500 liters of oil from 700 trees during the season.
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Croatia from Frantoio, Leccino, Pendolino, Istria Buza, Istrian Bjelica olives using traditional methods.
