Agraria Riva del Garda Awarded for Fifth Consecutive Year
The Italian producer, Agraria Riva del Garda, has won a Gold Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
We feel flattered and delighted. It is an honor to be recognized by such an important contest like the NYIOOC. The U.S. market is very important for us. After this award, we feel more committed than ever to pursue the organic way.
Furio Battelini, technical manager
The company, which is based in the northeastern Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige, was awarded for its 46° Parallelo Biologico brand, an organic robust blend.
"We feel flattered and delighted," technical manager Furio Battelini said. "It is an honor to be recognized by such an important contest like the NYIOOC. The U.S. market is very important for us. After this award, we feel more committed than ever to pursue the organic way."
In the 2019/20 season, Agraria Riva del Garda produced 850 tons of organic extra virgin olive oil from Frantoio olives using traditional methods.
In spite of enjoying success for the fifth consecutive year at the NYIOOC, Battelini said the Gold did not come easy.
"2019 was indeed a difficult harvest," he said. "We lost a great deal of olives, and the surviving ones were threatened by the olive fruit fly. Nonetheless, thanks to our team's experience and expertise, we were still able to obtain a premium and awarded product."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
