Rajhi & Ferjani Celebrate After ‘Exceptional Year’

4 years agoBy OOT Staff

Tunisia's Al Rajhi El Ferjani Food Industry Company has won a Silver Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its Carthagene Olivos brand, a delicate Chetoui.

This award brings us an extra-superb feeling of joy; not only to have won but especially the joy of having done so with my team. Carthagene Olivos is a story of success for shareholders who believe in entrepreneurship and above all who believe in their team. NYIOOC gives us a superb chance to find new markets on an international scale.

Atef Ferjani, CEO

The North African company produced 300 tons of extra virgin olive oil in the 2019/20 season using machine methods.

"This award brings us an extra-superb feeling of joy; not only to have won but especially the joy of having done so with my team," CEO Atef Ferjani said. "Carthagene Olivos is a story of success for shareholders who believe in entrepreneurship and above all who believe in their team. NYIOOC gives us a superb chance to find new markets on an international scale."

Ferjani added that the result was especially satisfying after the company was forced to begin harvesting later than usual.

"For us, 2019 was an exceptional year," he said. "We completed the installation of the olive oil extraction plant in October 2019; the tanks were installed in November, which came one month behind the harvest in Tunisia."

"But this delay has given us more confidence that even with the late start, we could achieve our goals," he added. "Better late than never."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
