Olive Truck’s Mobile Mill Wins Gold Again
Olive Truck from the United States won a Gold Award at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
It’s an amazing achievement that makes us very proud and a great motivation for me as a producer, olive oil enthusiast and entrepreneur.
Sam Bayraktar, owner
The California producer earned its eleventh award at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for a medium-intensity Coratina.
"This is the third year in a row that our Olive Truck Coratina extra virgin olive oil has earned the Gold award," said owner Sam Bayraktar.
"It’s an amazing achievement that makes us very proud and motivates me as a producer, olive oil enthusiast and entrepreneur," he added. "It also brings big responsibility. We need to sustain producing high-profile olive oils each season."
In the 2023/24 crop year, Olive Truck produced 5,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil in its Mor-Tem mill, custom-built in the back of a tractor-trailer.
"The biggest challenge now and unfortunately will be more in the future is climate change and its side effects," Bayraktar said. "The season is very short if you focus on ultra-quality olive oil production since you mostly need to deal with early-harvested olives."
