Sustento Global Victorious at World Olive Oil Competition

5 years agoBy Olive Oil Times

Sustento Global SL won a Gold Award for its robust monovarietal at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

The NYIOOC is one of the most important recognitions in our sector and it is an honor, for the entire Campos de Sanaa team, to have been selected as one of the best olive oils in the world, thus valuing the effort and dedication that we put into offering unique flavors.

Jose Baptista, CEO, Sustento Global SL

The company's Campos de Sanaa, a robust Picual, took the win at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest. The producer uses traditional methods to craft its extra virgin olive oil in Andalusia.

Company CEO Jose Baptista noted that the company, like all producers, had to deal with non-optimal climate conditions during the season.

"The year 2019 presented some climatic challenges that affected, not so significantly, our production: the rains, high temperatures and some other factors with which everyone who works the land must be habituated. We are happy to understand and adapt our final product, always with one goal in mind, to have one of the best olive oils in the world," Baptista said.

Baptista said he was honored by the award.

"The NYIOOC is one of the most important recognitions in our sector and it is an honor, for the entire Campos de Sanaa team, to have been selected as one of the best olive oils in the world, thus valuing the effort and dedication that we put into offering unique flavors," Baptista said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
