Texas Hill Country Olive Co. Wins Again

8 months agoBy Masha Richart

Two extra virgin olive oils produced by Texas Hill Country Olive Co. were recognized with awards at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

We are elated and honored to receive another round of awards this year. Under the current economic climate, our awards will help us stand out and solidify our place on the stage as one of the world’s best olive oils. We feel that it will help us reach new customers across the U.S. and beyond as we navigate this unprecedented time in history.

Sola Stella, a delicate Arbequina, took a Silver Award, and the company’s medium Texas Hill Country Millers Blend snagged a Gold Award. The wins bring the company’s total number of NYIOOC awards over the years to five.

Company co-owner John Gambini said the producer was able to bottle great-quality oil despite low production.

“Overall production was less than what was expected, especially with certain varietals. However, the quality was excellent and our customers have been tremendously satisfied with our end product,” Gambini said.

The company produced 11,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil in Texas from 17,500 trees this year using machine methods.

“We are elated and honored to receive another round of awards this year. Under the current economic climate, our awards will help us stand out and solidify our place on the stage as one of the world’s best olive oils. We feel that it will help us reach new customers across the U.S. and beyond as we navigate this unprecedented time in history,” Gambini said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
